Yichen Jiang beaace5eb3 Merge remote-tracking branch 'origin/master' into codex/rfc-subagent-background-tasks
Adopts #185 (dsh-timeout: clampTimeout/deadline/timeoutOf drive bash
run() timeout classification; runBash loses its own timer) and #108
(ask_user_question) across the task-runtime rework: bash-local keeps
the BashProcess handle shape with master's deadline mechanics, tool
catalogs/expectations carry both the task_* and ask-user tools, and
generated docs are regenerated on the union.

Yichen Jiang 184e164091 feat(tasks): background task runtime, generic task_* control tools, bash/subagent producers
One shared ctx.tasks registry (branded <kind>-N ids, owner-fenced
read/kill/wait/list, attachSurface misconfiguration fence, reported-flag
notice dedup, atomic register) + dsh-tool-tasks (task_output/task_list/
task_kill, completion-notice injection, background prompt habit).
Producers opt in via their own enableRunInBackground config: bash
(stream kind; seam slimmed to resolve/run/start returning a BashProcess
handle, bash_output/bash_kill deleted) and subagent (final-output kind;
done settles after run.dispose()). Owner disposal drains tasks through
the new awaited ctx.agents.onCleanup seam in the loop's disposal chain.
Both RFCs moved to implemented/; docs, catalogs, snapshots re-pinned.

Dudu-0223 e0f20088d8 feat: bash-backed glob/grep discovery tools (dsh-tool-fs-search)
Implements docs/rfc/implemented/feature/2026-07-09-bash-backed-grep-glob-
discovery.md: model-facing glob/grep in a new @deepseek-ai/dsh-tool-fs-search
package, executing fixed ripgrep templates through ctx.bash.resolve/run —
not ctx.fs provider methods — so filesystem backends stay free of a search
contract and sandboxed/remote executors substitute cleanly. The tools never
call ctx.bash.start(); the tool layer owns quoting (one singleQuote safety
boundary), rg --json parsing, ItemRetainer/TextRetainer retention, and the
first tool-owned ctx.spillFiles.saveText() handoff (item-level retention the
generic post-execute spill policy cannot recover).

RFC amendments on the way to implemented/: a shared src/search-core.ts (the
SEARCH_* vocabulary + bash-run/raw-spill/spill plumbing was byte-identical
across both tools — the missed-extraction smell), and a snapshot-gap note:
wiring the acp-agent tree changes the assembled prompt, so goldens need a
keyed re-record; the spill notice text is pinned by unit tests instead and
only the coding-agent example ships the tools for now.

imccyu 0d11a3afc7 workflow: rename dsh-workflow-vm to dsh-workflow-workerthread
Pure mechanical rename now that the package's internals are the
worker-thread engine: directory, package name, spec/e2e filenames,
module tags and logger prefixes, tsconfig/knip/run-gates/AGENTS.md
references, example cordis.yml plugin ids, doc links; catalogs
regenerated and the lockfile refreshed.

pku-xht 0ba6d832f8 docs: regenerate the module graph on the merged tree
The master merge (5309ea54) resolved the module-graph conflict by hand,
placing the subagent-subprocess dependency-table row ahead of util/timeout's;
the generator's deterministic order (group order, util first) wants them
swapped, so the freshness gate (gen-module-graph --check) failed CI's static
job. Regenerated on the merged tree — a two-line swap; every other generated
catalog was already resolution-fresh (regen-all changed nothing else).

imccyu e51e58e993 chore: register the cordis group across repo gates and docs
Everything outside the package and example that a new top-level group and a
new demo touch: GROUP_ORDER in gen-module-graph and gen-doc-graphs (plus the
tools-service consumers list, the APP_EXAMPLES entry, and the graph-atlas
label/mode rows), the knip e2e entries, the packages/README group row, the
AGENTS.md layout and demo lines, and the regenerated module-graph /
config-catalog / graph-atlas / capability-seams / composition artifacts.
AGENTS.md and examples/AGENTS.md word-budget ceilings rise to current+5%
(1802 / 653): the new group and demo rows are genuine additions to both docs,
not condensable restatements.

pku-xht c321819053 rename: @deepseek-ai/dsh-subagent-process -> @deepseek-ai/dsh-subagent-subprocess
The extracted library's name sat one edit away from @deepseek-ai/dsh-subagent-inprocess
(process/inprocess), inviting a typo'd import to silently resolve to the wrong
package. subagent-subprocess also reads as the deliberate counterpart to
subagent-inprocess (in-process vs. subprocess), matching how the two shared
drivers actually differ.

Package directory, npm name, module doc, JSDoc module tags, test-file name and
its temp-dir prefixes, the subagent-acp import and its Config/tsconfig/package.json
references, root tsconfig.json/tsconfig.build.json/knip.json entries, and the
packages/subagent group README all renamed together; regenerated
docs/module-graph.md and docs/config-catalog.md. Pure rename — no behavior,
export, or Config shape changed.

Tianyi Cui e5093244fb fix(subagent): declare the dsh-scope dependency; make the re-assert REPLACE conflicting entries
ds-review-bot round-2 findings: (1) dsh-subagent's runtime import of
@deepseek-ai/dsh-scope was undeclared in its manifest and tsconfig
references (the root paths map masked it; the emitted package would import
an undeclared dependency) — wired as peer+dev with the project reference,
module graph regenerated. (2) The structured re-assert only ensured
PRESENCE, so a downstream listener injecting a same-named entry with the
wrong schema kept it model-visible while validateStructuredValue enforced
the real one; it now REPLACES any same-named tool/section with the run's
own. Pinned by a wrong-schema-injection test asserting exactly one entry
carrying the run's schema.

Tianyi Cui 32db205c10 feat(scope): dsh-scope scoped-context registration primitive
createScope(ctx, key) mints a tagged context over a synchronously-usable
no-op-plugin fiber (one fact drives visibility AND lifetime); scopeOf reads
the tag through the prototype chain; scopeTarget(base, key) builds the
scope-filtered dispatch carrier over cordis Context.filter, composing the
base's own filter, branded Scoped<T> and runtime-marked for the dev
invariants. Scope.rawDispose exposes the exact cordis disposer so a
composite effect can nest the scope's teardown at its yield position.

Dudu-0223 463b72ce96 feat(spill): add tool-output spill seam, local backend, and policy
Oversized plain-text tool results now spill to a session-scoped file and
return a bounded preview plus the spill path, so a verbose result stays
readable via `read` without consuming the next model request in full.

- dsh-spill: minimal SpillFiles seam (saveText → session-scoped SpillPath)
- dsh-spill-local: private 0700 session dirs, traversal-safe names, exclusive
  owner-only writes
- dsh-spill-policy: tools/post-execute transformer; no-op unless maxInlineBytes
is set; skips read; best-effort on save failure (never turns a success into
  an isError)

web_fetch is the showcase — no tool-specific spill code. The coding-agent
example loads the stack so its keyless Loader smoke guards the namespace-plugin
export shape. Snapshot gap for a transcript-visible web_fetch spill is recorded
in the RFC's Consequences (ACP replay is keyless and cannot hit the web).

Tianyi Cui 56b05f70cf feat: add the code-execution capability seam (ctx.codeRuntime)
New group packages/code-runtime/ with the interface package
@deepseek-ai/dsh-code-runtime, per the Code Mode RFC: abstract CodeRuntime
service (run() resolves program failures as an error field, rejects only
for seam misuse), the CodeRunRequest/CodeBindingNamespace/CodeRunResult/
CodeLogEntry/CodeRunFailure vocabulary, and readonly language/isolation
backend descriptors. Registered in the tsconfig maps, packages/README,
architecture service map, and the doc-graph service-role classification;
catalogs regenerated.

The RFC's one forward path token to the worker package becomes an npm-name
mention until PR3 creates that directory (verify-package-paths is
drift-scoped: the now-existing group made the token checkable).

docs/architecture.md ceiling 1630 -> 1640: the doc gained a genuinely new
capability-service row; the row itself is already minimal.

pku-xht cdd1ce2ad4 feat(subagent): extract dsh-subagent-process shared out-of-process machinery
The credential env scrub (SENSITIVE_ENV_PATTERN/buildChildEnv), the
spawn-failure capture (spawnFailure), the child-exit waits
(waitForExit/exitsWithin), and the stdin-EOF -> SIGTERM -> SIGKILL dispose
ladder move out of subagent-acp into a new pure library package (the
subagent-inprocess shape), with the ladder taking its two grace periods as
parameters — defaults stay in the plugin Config. New isolated-config-dir
helpers (mkdtemp create, best-effort remove; a pinned dir is never removed)
land alongside for the CLAUDE_CONFIG_DIR / CODEX_HOME redirection the RFC
names.

The ACP backend migrates onto the library with no semantic change: its suite
passes with import-path edits only. bash-local keeps its sibling copy, per
the RFC's blast-radius call.

- tool-web/src/fetch.ts: keep the timeout_ms removal, adopt master's richer
  JSDoc @param/@returns style on parseFetchArgs/presentFetchCall.
- tools/README.md: keep the tools/execute pipeline wording, adopt master's
  flattened docs/tool-catalog.md path.
- Regenerate every generated doc (cordis-catalog, tool-catalog, config-catalog,
doc-graphs, module-graph) so they carry both master's changes and the
  tools/execute event + timeout-policy package.
- Add @param/@returns to toolTimeoutResult for master's new verify-export-jsdoc gate.

Tianyi Cui 583704ac1d feat: add the worker-thread code runtime (dsh-code-runtime-worker)
The shipped backend of the code-execution seam, per the Code Mode RFC's
worker-thread section: one fresh Node worker per run, executing the
model's TypeScript after a host-side type-strip (wrapped in an
async-function shell so top-level return/await parse, sliced back out
position-preserved), bindings bridged over the message port under
hostile-peer rules (own-property name lookup, at-most-once replies,
post-settlement drops, null-prototype namespaces), logs streamed eagerly
with an in-band truncation marker, and two independent budgets — measured
event-loop busy time (computeMs) plus a never-pausing wall ceiling
(maxWallMs) — funneling into worker.terminate(). env: {} and execArgv: []
keep the isolate hermetic; disposal aborts in-flight runs and awaits
worker exits.

The worker entry loads unbuilt via Node's native type stripping
(src/worker.ts, erasable-only) and ships built as a sibling tsdown bundle
(lib/worker.js); tests/built-lib.e2e.ts pins the built load path under
plain node and joins the built-artifact smoke gate. Unit suites cover the
bootstrap in-process (fake port) and the runtime over real workers,
per-file 100%.

Dudu-0223 8190016e2b feat(timeout): add tools/execute seam + tool-timeout policy plugin
Model-facing tool-call budgets were tangled into each capability's schema
(bash timeoutMs, web_fetch timeout_ms) with no shared home. Add a
tools/execute around-dispatch waterfall to dsh-tools whose base next() is
the dispatch-with-normalization thunk, and a new @deepseek-ai/dsh-timeout-policy
plugin (packages/timeout/) that arms a per-tool deadline on exec.signal and
returns a structured TOOL_TIMEOUT when it wins. Migrate web_fetch (drop the
model-facing timeout_ms) and web_search onto it; the fetch provider keeps its
timeout only as a resource backstop for direct callers. bash and hook command
execution keep BASH_TIMEOUT unchanged.

Named the plugin timeout-policy (not the RFC's tool-timeout) so it does not
trip the gen-tool-catalog packages/*/tool-* completeness guard, and replace
exec.signal by in-place mutation before next() since cordis waterfall next()
ignores passed arguments. RFC moved to implemented/ recording both deviations.

kingwl 556f847064 feat(acp-snapshot): extract the ACP snapshot suite into a support package
The snapshot tier's machinery leaves examples/acp-agent/tests for
packages/support/acp-snapshot (@deepseek-ai/dsh-acp-snapshot), where the
coverage gate measures it and a second example can consume it instead of
forking it: harness.ts (runScenario, parameterized by an AgentUnderTest
{binScript, configPath, tsconfigPath} instead of module constants),
normalize.ts (moved verbatim), and suite.ts (defineAcpSnapshotSuite — the
per-scenario golden/log compares, record write-back, per-suite header pin
with its uniformity guard, and the fixture guard block, lifted from
acp.snapshot.ts). The example file collapses to its scenario table plus
one factory call; env reading (DSH_SNAPSHOT) stays at that edge.

The exactly-one-pin meta-test generalizes from the hardcoded text-turn
name to "exactly one per suite" — which scenario pins is the scenario
table's reviewable choice (per-suite pinning per the proposal RFC).

Extraction parity: pnpm run test:snapshot is 36 passed + fs-policy-reject
failing BEFORE AND AFTER (BSD-sed environment failure, reproduced at the
base commit in a clean worktree — the recorded golden's sed -i syntax is
GNU-only), with zero byte changes under examples/acp-agent/tests/snapshots/.
Coverage for the new src files lands in the next commit.

Tianyi Cui 6da6f04016 feat: add the code-execution capability seam (ctx.codeRuntime)

Dudu-0223 7a1c2779a7 feat(retention): add dsh-retention bounded-output library
Ship @deepseek-ai/dsh-retention under packages/util/: pure ItemRetainer /
TextRetainer plus neutral notice helpers, so tools that cap model-facing
output share one "what did we keep, what did we omit, may we stop reading"
mechanic while keeping grouping, exit codes, provider errors, and recovery
prose tool-owned. The two retainers are separate names because they differ in
resource model: item-head can stop the upstream on the first over-cap probe
(shouldStop), while text tail/head-tail must read to the end. The library
documents glob/grep/bash/web_fetch/web_search mappings but migrates no tool
yet — glob/grep don't exist, and migration is deliberately separate work.

Flips the RFC to implemented/ and rewrites its skeleton to shipped reality.

Tianyi Cui 74502fa8c2 Structured output on the subagent seam: schema subset, capture runtime, spawn/fork support
Carved out of #170 per review feedback — the foundation the workflow tool
builds on, now standing alone on master:

- dsh-tools: the structured-output JSON Schema subset (StructuredOutputSchema,
assertSupportedOutputSchema, validateStructuredValue) — rejects loud outside
the enforced subset, listing every violation
- dsh-subagent: SubagentStartRequest.outputSchema / SubagentResult.structured
become a real capability; the service rejects a schema'd request whose
  provider lacks it
- dsh-subagent-inprocess: the shared structured runtime — one global
structured_output capture tool, a prepend final-assembly listener that
strips the placeholder for plain agents and swaps in the run's own schema
(plus the calling instruction as a trailing section) for structured
children, an agent/turn-continuation veto once captured, and the
capture/nudge loop in the run driver (structuredNudgeRetries, cancellation
honored mid-nudge); lifetime refcounted by backends and live runs
- subagent-spawn / subagent-fork flip outputSchema: true

One deliberate divergence from the #170 revision: the backends do NOT add
'tools' to their plugin inject. Doing so deferred their apply past the todo
plugin, and the delegation tool mirrors provider lifecycle — so the
model-visible tool order of every existing prompt changed, invalidating every
recorded snapshot fixture. The runtime now gates its capture-tool registration
on tools availability itself (sync when live, a scoped inject fiber when the
Loader starts the backend first), keeping this PR byte-invisible to existing
transcripts: all 35 snapshot scenarios pass against master's fixtures
unchanged.

Dudu-0223 8615e019d3 feat(timeout): add dsh-timeout and converge bash + web_fetch onto it
Timeout timing/classification was re-implemented three ways across the
tool-bearing capabilities, with the fusion of timeout+cancel and the
timeout-vs-cancel reason recovery being the error-prone parts. Extract that
shared half into a zero-dependency @deepseek-ai/dsh-timeout library
(clampTimeout/deadline/timeoutOf/TimeoutReason) and leave the non-shareable
hard-kill in each capability, per the timeout-library RFC.

bash: run() owns the deadline; runBash drops its killTimer and no longer
classifies (SpawnSpec/SpawnOutcome lose timeoutMs/timedOut/aborted), so the
public timedOut/aborted booleans become mutually-exclusive first-abort
classifications. web_fetch: the hand-rolled controller/timer/listener/
signal.reason dance is replaced by provider-owned deadline/timeoutOf, keeping
the WEB_FETCH_TIMEOUT / WEB_ABORTED contract. fs stays timeout-free (README
states why).

Beyond the mechanical conflicts (provider capability lines vs master's new

adaptation of this branch:

- The persona rework removed AgentOptions.systemPrompt, which was the
structured-output instruction's channel. The instruction now rides the
SAME final-request enforcement listener that injects the schema'd tool:
appended per request to final.system (per-request wire state, not agent
prompt state). Tests assert the wire request (adapter.requests) instead
of child.options; the bare-direct-dispatch test pins the no-system arm.
- Tool guidance moved out of deployment prompts into per-tool prompt
sections; the examples' workflow paragraph became a tool:<toolName>
section contributed by dsh-tool-workflow (explicit-ask-only policy),
and both example personas resolve to master's minimal identity+behavior
form. tool-workflow gains inject: systemPrompt (+ peer dep, tsconfig
  ref); the export-shape guard updated.
- The uniform-RFC-format gate: the dynamic-workflows RFC restructured to
  the implemented/ skeleton (bare Status line; Proposal -> Decision;
What-was-rejected -> Alternatives considered; new Consequences), and
the overall-run-timeout deferral is now recorded in the RFC's Deferred
list. The doc-graphs atlas classification gains the workflows seam
  (workflow-vm implementation, tool-workflow consumer).

Master's harness-identity section made "empty assembled prompt" states
unreachable through the loop, so the instruction-append is a plain
undefined-ternary and the structured tests assert append-not-replace.
All snapshot goldens (including workflow-run) replay unchanged. Full
local CI-equivalent gate sequence green on the merged tree.
