* logging: gate LOG_TRACE behind MESHTASTIC_TRACE_LOGGING, drop redundant reclock logs
LOG_TRACE now compiles out by default so trace-level diagnostics cost no
flash; enable with -DMESHTASTIC_TRACE_LOGGING. Portduino keeps it on for
the traceFilename packet-trace feature.
Remove the 66 caller-side I2C reclock/restore log lines in the telemetry
sensors: ReClockI2C::setClock/restoreClock already log both frequencies
internally (now at trace level, since they fire every sensor read).
Also unify near-duplicate literals (colon/case/punctuation variants) so
linker string dedup applies, and drop an information-free bare 'done'.

* logging: demote chatty per-packet/per-poll DEBUG lines to trace level
With LOG_TRACE compiled out by default, per-iteration chatter (packet
bookkeeping, sensor poll values, e-ink refresh reasons, GPS pin states,
UI runState traces) now costs no flash on device builds while remaining
one -DMESHTASTIC_TRACE_LOGGING away. 108 lines demoted, 4 information-
free lines removed; failure paths, drop reasons, and one-time init logs
all stay at debug level.

* logging: address CodeRabbit review on trace-gate PR
- GPS: pass serial-derived buffers as %s args, never as format strings
(untrusted bytes could contain % directives)
- 0x%08x for packet id / NodeNum per convention (Router, CannedMessage,
NeighborInfo); unsigned casts for size_t args; %u for uint32_t delta
- EInk: async full-refresh begin/complete back to DEBUG (rare state
transitions); per-frame SKIPPED lines stay trace

* logging: gate trace on the flag's value, not its presence
-DMESHTASTIC_TRACE_LOGGING=0 previously *enabled* trace logging because
the gate tested definedness. The flag now defaults per-platform
(portduino 1, else 0) and both backends test the value, so =0 disables,
=1 or a bare -D enables. Also cast tx_after-millis() to uint32_t for %u
(millis() is unsigned long on native).

* Even fewer bytes!
* logging: keep compile-gated debug lines at debug level; fix native-suite-count
Lines already inside default-off #ifdef blocks (GPS_DEBUG,
DEBUG_LOOP_TIMING) cost no flash and should stay visible at debug level
when their gate is enabled, rather than also requiring
MESHTASTIC_TRACE_LOGGING.
test/native-suite-count lags the two test_event_channel_* suites added
by #11045 (develop's Native Suite Count check has the same mismatch);
bump 46 -> 47.

* gps: route GPS_DEBUG diagnostics through a LOG_DEBUG_GPS() macro (#11414)
Replaces 27 log-only #ifdef GPS_DEBUG blocks across GPS.cpp,
PositionModule, MeshService, and GPSStatus.h with a single-line
LOG_DEBUG_GPS() call (src/gps/GPSLog.h, modeled on LOG_MIGRATION:
value-gated, ((void)0) when off). Blocks containing declarations,
control flow, hexDump, or nested conditionals keep an explicit
'#if GPS_DEBUG' guard. RTC.cpp's per-reading raw time dumps and
per-candidate rejection chatter fold under the same gate; quality
transitions and boot-time seeding stay at debug.
Also fixes the '// define GPS_DEBUG' missing-# typo in two variant
headers and updates all seven commented examples to the value form
('#define GPS_DEBUG 1') required by the value-based gate.

* gps: declare RTC gmtime result as pointer to const (cppcheck)
With the setTime debug dump gated behind GPS_DEBUG, all remaining uses
of t are reads; cppcheck (constVariablePointer) now flags it.

* feat: add Raspberry Pi Pico 2 + W5500 + E22-900M30S variant
Adds community variant for Raspberry Pi Pico 2 (RP2350, 4 MB flash)
with external WIZnet W5500 Ethernet module and EBYTE E22-900M30S LoRa
module (SX1262, 30 dBm PA, 868/915 MHz).
Key details:
- LoRa on SPI1: GP10/11/12/13 (SCK/MOSI/MISO/CS), RST=GP15,
DIO1=GP14, BUSY=GP2, RXEN=GP3 (held HIGH via SX126X_ANT_SW)
- W5500 on SPI0: GP16/17/18/19/20 (MISO/CS/SCK/MOSI/RST)
- SX126X_DIO2_AS_RF_SWITCH: DIO2→TXEN bridge on module handles PA
- SX126X_DIO3_TCXO_VOLTAGE 1.8: TCXO support via EBYTE_E22 flags
- DHCP timeout reduced to 10 s to avoid blocking LoRa startup
- GPS on UART1/Serial2: GP8 TX, GP9 RX
- Reuses WIZNET_5500_EVB_PICO2 code paths for Ethernet init
Co-Authored-By: Claude Sonnet 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* pico2_w5500_e22: rename define and address review feedback
Rename WIZNET_5500_EVB_PICO2 to PICO2_W5500_E22 so the variant-specific
define matches the variant directory name and isn't confused with an
on-board EVB SKU.
Review fixes from PR #10135:
- Gate the 10 s Ethernet DHCP timeout behind PICO2_W5500_E22 so other
Ethernet builds keep the default 60 s behavior; apply the same timeout
to reconnectETH() for consistency.
- Drop the unused -D EBYTE_E22 flag; EBYTE_E22_900M30S already selects
TX_GAIN_LORA / SX126X_MAX_POWER in src/configuration.h.
- Rewrite "on-board W5500" comments to describe the external module.
- Correct README TX_GAIN_LORA value (7, not 10) and drop the EBYTE_E22
row.
* fix(pico2_w5500_e22): drop DEBUG_RP2040_PORT=Serial
The arduino-pico framework hooks _write() when DEBUG_RP2040_PORT=Serial
is set and dumps raw debug bytes onto USB CDC, corrupting any binary
protobuf stream sent through StreamAPI (e.g. `meshtastic --port COMx`).
The variant excludes BT and WiFi, so the primary client transport is
Ethernet TCP via ethServerAPI — unaffected — but users who configure
the node over USB serial would see protobuf decode failures from
debug-byte interleaving. Removing the flag restores clean USB CDC.
Debug output can still be enabled per-build by adding -D DEBUG_RP2040_PORT=Serial1
to redirect to UART0 instead of USB CDC.
* style(pico2_w5500_e22): apply trunk fmt — fixes Trunk Check
- variant.h: clang-format 16.0.3 (drop manual #define alignment)
- README.md: prettier + add `text` language to fenced code blocks (markdownlint MD040)
- wiring.svg: svgo optimization
Resolves the Trunk Check Runner failure on this PR (3 unformatted
files + 8 markdownlint issues). No functional changes.

* refactor(pico2_w5500_e22): address review — move to rp2350/diy, generic guards
Maintainer feedback from NomDeTom on PR #10135:
- Move the variant from variants/rp2350/ to variants/rp2350/diy/ to
distinguish DIY from prebuilt boards (matches the variants/*/diy/
pattern; still discovered via the existing variants/*/diy/*/platformio.ini
glob in the root platformio.ini).
- Replace the board-name macro PICO2_W5500_E22 in shared code with a
generic capability macro USE_ARDUINO_ETHERNET, defined from variant.h.
DebugConfiguration.h / ethServerAPI.h / ethClient.cpp no longer
reference a board name.
- Drop the architecture.h hook entirely: variant.h now defines PRIVATE_HW,
which the existing `#elif defined(PRIVATE_HW)` branch already handles.
No functional change. Build verified: pico2_w5500_e22 SUCCESS
(RAM 19.2%, Flash 28.1%).

* Resolve naming conflict of Syslog class with namespace
* do not include libpax headers if pax counter is excluded
* clean only top-level sdkconfigs, keep them in the variants directories
* Fix code formatting
I thought git would be smart enough to understand all the whitespace changes but even with all the flags I know to make it ignore theses it still blows up if there are identical changes on both sides.
I have a solution but it require creating a new commit at the merge base for each conflicting PR and merging it into develop.
I don't think blowing up all PRs is worth for now, maybe if we can coordinate this for V3 let's say.
This reverts commit 0d11331d18.
* bug #4184: fix config file loss due to filesystem write errors
* Use SafeFile for atomic file writing (with xor checksum readback)
* Write db.proto last because it could be the largest file on the FS (and less critical)
* Don't keep a tmp file around while writing db.proto (because too big to fit two files in the filesystem)
* generate a new critial fault if we encounter errors writing to flash
either CriticalErrorCode_FLASH_CORRUPTION_RECOVERABLE or CriticalErrorCode_FLASH_CORRUPTION_UNRECOVERABLE
(depending on if the second write attempt worked)
* reformat the filesystem if we detect it is corrupted (then rewrite our config files) (only on nrf52 - not sure
yet if we should bother on ESP32)
* If we have to format the FS, make sure to preserve the oem.proto if it exists
* add logLegacy() so old C code in libs can log via our logging
* move filesList() to a better location (used only in developer builds)
* Reformat with "trunk fmt" to match our coding conventions
* for #4395: don't use .exists() to before attempting file open
If a LFS filesystem is corrupted, .exists() can fail when a mere .open()
attempt would have succeeded. Therefore better to do the .open() in hopes that
we can read the file (in case we need to reformat to fix the FS).
(Seen and confirmed in stress testing)
* for #4395 more fixes, see below for details:
* check for LFS assertion failures during file operations (needs customized lfs_util.h to provide suitable hooks)
* Remove fsCheck() because checking filesystem by writing to it is very high risk, it makes likelyhood that we will
be able to read the config protobufs quite low.
* Update the LFS inside of adafruitnrf52 to 1.7.2 (from their old 1.6.1) to get the following fix:
https://github.com/littlefs-project/littlefs/commit/97d8d5e96a7781596708664f18f2ea6c3a179330
* use disable_adafruit_usb.py now that we are (temporarily?) using a forked adafruit lib
We need to reach inside the adafruit project and turn off USE_TINYUSB, just doing that
from platformio.ini is no longer sufficient.

While working on #4378 I noticed a funny problem: the blinking system
LED was on during deep-sleep. Initially I thought it was some weird
sleep hw config thing but it turns out it was easier but more pervasive.
We had two different preprocessor symbols which both meant approximately the same
thing LED_INVERTED and LED_STATE_ON (though their polarity was opposite).
Some variant files were setting one, others were setting the other, and others were
setting both. heh.
In the case of the board I was testing (seeed tracker wio 1100) it was only setting one
and the default behavior for the other (for all boards) was incorrect. So I did a grep
and it seems like LED_STATE_ON was used more often, so I kept that one and removed
LED_INVERTED everywhere.
* MESHTASTIC_EXCLUDE_WIFI and HAS_WIFI cleanup...
Our code was checking HAS_WIFI and the new MESHTASTIC_EXCLUDE_WIFI
flags in various places (even though EXCLUDE_WIFI forces HAS_WIFI
to 0). Instead just check HAS_WIFI, only use EXCLUDE_WIFI inside
configuration.h
* cleanup: use HAS_NETWORKING instead of HAS_WIFI || HAS_ETHERNET
We already had HAS_NETWORKING as flag in MQTT to mean 'we have
tcpip'. Generallize that and move it into configuration.h so that
we can use it elsewhere.
* Use #pragma once, because supported by gcc and all modern compilers
instead of #ifdef DOTHFILE_H etc...
